If there’s one question I get asked the most being a photographer, it’s what to wear for a photo shoot. It can be overwhelming trying to get outfits planned for your family. Or maybe you’re like me and think it’s super fun to put everything together! With that being said, I decided to feature a blog post about my suggestions on what to wear for a photo shoot! Enjoy!

I always suggest wearing colors that blend well together- but that doesn’t mean each outfit has to be the same color. Can we all agree that the trend of white shirts and jeans is so last decade? Everyone ends up washing together into one white blob (especially if they’re beach pictures), so I’m thankful that most people have moved on from that trend/mistake. Outfits that are different shades of the same color are fine, but I always love mixing up a soft blue or green with blush toned colors. Pastels work really well together for Spring and Summer, and I’m always a sucker for a nice pop of yellow or burgundy in the Fall and Winter. You really can’t go wrong with soft blush tones all year long, though!

I also suggest wearing colors that will match the walls and colorscheme of your home. I’m a huge print enthusiast, so knowing what room you plan to print and hang pictures will help a lot in deciding what to wear for a photo shoot.

Here’s some inspiration to hopefully guide you in your decision making for your next shoot!

I LOVED the outfits Carly picked out for her family session at Jackson Springs Park. Also, I’m obsessed with her sleeve tattoo and love that their outfits match the color tones!
