Ally and Kurt got married at The Corry House in Lake Oconee a few weeks ago, and it was such a dream! I loved The Corry House because it wasn’t your typical wedding venue. When you drive up, the beautiful white historic house is front and center, which gives the venue a beautiful southern charm. In the back you have the red barn, which is great for receptions and indoor ceremonies. There are two ceremony sites to choose from, a forest site and an open area overlooking a beautiful field of horses. I’m SO glad Ally and Kurt chose the forest site for their ceremony. It was absolutely magical. As Ally walked down the aisle, there were sunbeams peeking through the trees as Kurt watched his bride come down the aisle and it gave me all the feels. I think a ceremony like theirs is a dream of every wedding photographer and I was so honored to be the one to capture every moment for them!
I love hearing how every couple meets, so I had Ally share their story, as well as some of her thoughts about planning the wedding and the wedding day itself. Enjoy!
“Kurt and I met our senior year of college at GCSU in Milledgeville after meeting through mutual friends and continued dating long distance while I was at Auburn and eventually moved to Macon. After dating several years Kurt always joked that we wouldn’t get married until he was 30 and fast forward 8 1/2 years and he was right…he was actually 31 on our wedding day. 🙂 His proposal took me completely by surprise since it was a Sunday night on the couch at our house but it was perfect! Apparently, he tried to set up a video recording of it on our dog camera, but I ruined it by coming in and out of the living room asking about baking Christmas cookies. 😉 Still have no idea how he pulled off such a surprise because I am the planner of all things in our relationship.
As far as the wedding & planning, we love Lake Oconee since his family has a small house there, and we fell in love with the forest site at The Corry House on our first visit. Our hashtag #finALLLYhardison has been a running joke since we’ve been together so long and turns out that our wedding was the 30th one we attended together which is pretty cool! We both wanted the weekend to be fun and laid back and we are so happy with how the day turned out!”
I love a good Father Daughter first look!
