Tis the season for proposals! It was barely a week before that I had photographed a proposal in Atlanta, and now I was getting to do it all over again and I loved it! Izzy and Madison are one of those power couples that everyone loves and roots for, and I’m just happy to know them! My husband and I were always teasing Izzy about when he was going to propose to Madison, so I was completely ecstatic when he approached us a few weeks ago about doing it! I immediately offered to be there and photograph it, and my husband Justin offered our house as an engagement after party. Plans got shifted around a few times, but it ended up working out to do it Friday evening, and it was perfection. Izzy had a few friends set up for the proposal, which was at Washington Park in Downtown Macon, while he went to pick up Madison. The plan was for both of them to go to an apartment of a friend of his to “apartment hunt”, but the friend told him he was at the park a couple blocks away and to meet him there. When they started walking down the stairs, Madison was greeted with pictures of the two of them together staked into the ground, candles and flower petals running down the stairs, and a huge heart made out of more candles and flower petals at the bottom of the pavement, all while Frank Sinatra was playing on a nearby speaker.
I and the few friends that helped set up were hiding behind trees and bushes as Izzy poured his heart out to Madison. I peered out of my hiding spot to photograph when he got down on his knee, and immediately she said yes (no doubt there)! It was so sweet to be a part of!
After the proposal, I hugged Madison and said, “I had to go home and feed my kids dinner”, which wasn’t a lie at all. I just didn’t include the part that she would be there eating pizza with us, along with 30 of their other close friends to celebrate their new engagement! I ran and got the pizza, brought it back to a beautifully decorated house, (thanks to her sweet friends), and we waited for their arrival. After a few false alarms of other friends coming through the door and everyone screaming congratulations, Izzy and Madison arrived and the party began! Izzy had told Madison he was taking her to a fancy restaurant and that she had to be blindfolded so she wouldn’t see where they were going, but instead she found them at our house full of her closest friends to wish them congratulations. We are so happy for both Izzy and Madison and can’t wait for the wedding!
Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Dubois!
