Today’s Wedding Venue Highlight is New City Weddings in Downtown Macon! I actually attend church here, so I might be a little biased. 😉 Follow along to find out why I love it so much AND for some important/exciting news pertaining to the building!

New City Weddings | The History

I love New City Weddings because it’s unlike every other wedding venue in the area. It’s a beautiful historic brick building in Downtown Macon that was constructed in the 1900’s. It first served as the power station for the Macon Railway and Light Company, and most recently was the Power Station Nightclub. (It’s pretty comical telling people that our church used to be a nightclub!) New City Church bought and renovated the building a few years ago, and have been hosting weddings in it ever since. Full disclosure, our church is planning to move buildings sooner rather than later, so it’s not accepting anymore weddings for 2020 and beyond. But the church plans to sell the building and hopefully it will be kept as an event/wedding venue! It’s definitely a special and beautiful building.

The Location

New City Weddings is located off Riverside Drive near Spring Street in Downtown Macon, making it a great location! You’re not far from grocery stores, The Marriott Hotel, and some of the best restaurants in town. Downtown Macon has come a long way in the last decade and I honestly love it so much. There’s so much history and beauty here. The wedding venue has an industrial and urban look to it, which makes for some incredible wedding photos.

The Staff

I personally know the ladies behind New City Weddings, and can tell you that they are amazing women! They make sure each wedding comes together beautifully and runs seamlessly. Another thing I have loved about this wedding venue, is that the church donates a portion of each wedding to DFCS.

This was a bittersweet venue to highlight, because I love it so much and I’m sad that it won’t be the building for our church much longer (hopefully). But it’s always a good problem for a church to have outgrown their building, am I right?! I truly hope that whoever ends up purchasing the building from New City Church continues to use it as an event/wedding venue. (So if you know of anyone looking for a new church building or wedding venue in Macon, send them our way!)
