Johnna and David had the most elegant wedding at Southern Bridle Farms in Fort Valley at the end of September. Everything was perfect and they were radiating the whole day! This hasn’t been an easy year for wedding couples, so I was thrilled that they were able to keep their wedding date and celebrate with their friends and family. Johnna was beaming in her wedding dress from Bridals by Gilbert, and David looked so dapper in his black suit. They were married outside next to the Cedar Barn and then danced the night away with their loved ones! I always love sharing how my couples met and how they got engaged, so here is their sweet story from David’s perspective!
How They Met
Three years ago, I volunteered to help recruit and meet students at an accounting event at Georgia Southern University. I had been to several recruiting events over the years and this one in particular was going as they all had until the moment the most beautiful girl, wearing a little black dress, entered the room. I did my best to keep talking to other students but I couldn’t focus anymore. Eventually, after I worked up the nerve, I went over to talk to her. Before I knew it, the event was over and all the other students had left. We had talked the entire event. I never wanted that conversation to end. I left that event knowing she was the one.
A couple weeks later, there was another recruiting event on campus that I immediately signed up for with the hopes of seeing her at least one more time. After agonizing the first half of the event because she was nowhere to be seen, once again she walked in and everything else didn’t matter anymore. We spent more time talking and getting to know each other. Even my boss picked at me on the way home because he knew I had found the one.
Later that week, I heard word Johnna was selected for an internship at the firm. I knew this was my opportunity to take a chance. I sent her a message congratulating her hoping it would lead to more conversation. Luckily for me, we have talked every day since.
Fast forward 2 years over several trips together, holidays together, and growing to learn and love each other more and more, I knew I was going to ask her to spend the rest of her life with me. The only question was how. Luckily for me, she was planning an Oxford, England study abroad trip with Clemson University. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity and surprise to sneak out there without her knowing and propose. I went back and forth on it but the love and support of family and friends convinced me it was a great idea. After a day of scouting potential spots, we stumbled upon the Sunken Gardens at The Kensington Palace. It was so beautiful and perfect. The next evening, Johnna and her wonderful friends who helped get her in the right place at the right time delivered my bride to be. Thankfully, she said YES!!!
