I can’t believe I’m typing these words. I photographed my first wedding TEN YEARS ago today. Granted, I had no idea what I was doing, but I was eager, excited, and so nervous. I was using shoe mount flash and felt so official using that instead of the built-in flash on my camera. Again, I had no idea what I was doing but, I was doing it! Something triggered (literally and mentally) for me that day; the answer to what I wanted to do when I graduated. I wanted to be a wedding photographer, and here I am ten years later, doing what I love. I’ve been a wedding photographer in Macon for a whole decade! Somebody pinch me! (Actually, just kidding, I’m not a fan of pinching so let’s skip it and just celebrate over tacos and margs)!
10 Years as a Wedding Photographer in Macon

The last ten years have been full of life, so here’s a small recap from my favorite decade so far. I met my husband as a teenager in 2009. Photographed my first wedding in early 2010 which kick-started my career in photography. *Officially* started dating Justin in 2012 (if you knew us then, you’re rolling your eyes and saying “we’re just friends!”). We got married in 2014, I was able to go full time in my wedding photography business that same year. We moved to Macon from Milledgeville in 2015 (We moved next door to my sister which was such a sweet season that I miss dearly). Had our first-born daughter in 2016. I figured out how hard and beautiful mom life is in 2017. We decided to keep that mom life going strong and had our son Elliott in 2018. We bought and flipped our first home in 2019, and here we are barely into 2020. I’m so excited for all that is going to come next! I’m reminded of Proverbs 31:25 when I think about it, which says, “strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future.”.

My husband and I had so much fun doing this photo shoot (all during nap time because #momlife). As you can see, I’ve never popped a bottle of champagne before and it shows. 😉

I just want to say again, how blessed and overwhelmed I am for these last ten years of having this photography business. I am SO thankful for all the clients who have trusted me with their most precious memories on their wedding day and families who choose me to capture the everyday moments of their beautiful lives. This is what I’ve always dreamed of doing since I was a pre-teen, and I’m so thankful for these last ten years of getting to live out that dream. I’m undone at God’s goodness and overwhelmed with thankfulness. My cup runneth over.

Now for some fun! I am hosting a G I V E A W A Y to celebrate my 10 year photogra-versary (yes, I just made that word up), actually TWO giveaways, so be sure to keep an eye out on Facebook and Instagram for details on how to enter!
