On December 13th, I received an email from Lexi asking if I was available for her sister’s proposal in Atlanta on December 14th… as in, the next morning. Fortunately, my scheduled shoot for the 14th got postponed to another day right before I received her email, so I was available and THRILLED to be a part of such special moment for them! Lexi and her family are all from Tulsa, Oklahoma, but Tali (the soon to be engaged sister), had moved down to Atlanta to work for Chickfila, which is where she met her boyfriend Matt! Matt asked for permission to marry Tali from her dad back in October, so they had been planning this moment for a while. Lexi and her parents flew into Atlanta the day before the proposal and Lexi went with me to Piedmont Park to be there for the proposal. She said that Tali told Matt if he ever proposed that Lexi had to be there, so once we get to the place where Matt envisioned popping the question, we mapped out where Lexi needed to hide and where I could keep guard over the swing so no one else would claim it before Tali and Matt got there. I actually did end up having to ask someone to get off the swing and let them know there was about to be a proposal happening there any minute, and they were happy to leave!
As Tali and Matt walked up to the swing, I walked around and behind them so I could get a good angle of Tali’s face when she saw Lexi walk up. They were sitting on a double-sided swing, facing a pond and the skyline of Atlanta, so Lexi’s plan was to walk up and sit on the other side of the swing facing the park. Once she walked up, Tali could see her in the corner of her eye, and once she turned and saw who it was, she was so shocked and confused! Matt then poured his heart out to Tali, followed by him getting down on his knee and pulling the ring out with the biggest question he’s ever asked anyone. Tali was so overcome with everything that had just happened and said, “Yes!” while shaking her head up and down, all the while Lexi and I are beaming from ear to ear and I may or may not have even cried a little. The exciting proposal they had been planning for months finally happened and it was perfect! I was just so happy that it worked out for me to be there and capture these sweet memories for them!
Congratulations once again to Tali and Matt!
